Start with route shape
The safest Poople Hints do not name the answer. They point at route shape: which letter position might change, whether a vowel pivot is likely, and whether the ladder needs a word close to POOP near the end.
Use the current row, not memory
A hint only helps if it matches the word currently on your board. If you already took a different legal branch, skip opening clues and use the solver or next-word help from your actual row.
Hint levels
Poople Hints work best when they move from soft to direct. Stop at the first clue that gives you a legal word to try.

If your current row has moved past the original start, skip any Poople Hints that describes the opening. You need a clue for the row on screen, not a clue for a move you already made.
When your route is off the shown path
If your current word is not near the clue being described, treat Poople Hints as a route reference instead of a command. Your branch may still be legal. Use the solver from your current word, then come back to compare how the shown route stayed shorter.
